Yes. If you are a Best Deal (Screener and both newsletters) subscriber you can connect an AI assistant to Quant Investing using our free MCP (Model Context Protocol) connector.
You generate an API key in your account, add Quant Investing as a custom connector in your AI assistant, and then ask questions in plain English to run the screener, read the newsletters, and back test strategies.
Which AI assistants can I use?
Claude, the AI assistant from Anthropic, is the one we have tested and written full step-by-step instructions for. Because MCP is an open standard (published by Anthropic), other MCP-compatible AI assistants, for example ChatGPT, should be able to connect in the same way. We have not tested those ourselves yet, so the exact steps may differ. If you connect Quant Investing to another assistant, we would love to hear how it went.
What is MCP and what can it do?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets an AI assistant call structured tools on a remote server. Our connector gives the assistant 32 tools covering the stock screener (22,000 companies, 200+ financial factors), the Quant Value and Shareholder Yield Letter archives, your personal watchlists and saved screens, and the full back testing engine.
You ask in plain English, for example: “Show me the top 30 European stocks with a Piotroski F-Score above 7 and a return on invested capital above 15%.” Access is read-only — the connector can read your subscriber data, but it cannot change your account, and it cannot place any trades.
What do I need?
A Best Deal subscription (stock screener + Quant Value + Shareholder Yield Letter).
A Claude account (the free, Pro or Max plan works), or another MCP-compatible AI assistant.
An API key generated from your Quant Investing account.
How do I set it up?
The full, always up-to-date steps are in our guide How to connect Claude to Quant Investing. In short:
Create an API key. Open My Subscription, find the My API Keys section, create a new key, and copy it. It is shown only once, so store it like a password.
Add the connector. In your AI assistant’s connector settings, add a custom connector named QuantInvesting (one word) that points to the Quant Investing MCP server and includes your API key.
Check it works. Start a new chat and ask the assistant to show your quota status. If it returns your daily quota, you are connected.
About your API key and API access
Your API key is how the connector proves it is you — this is your API access to Quant Investing. Each key is bound to your subscriber account and is stored only as a hashed value on our server, so we never keep the key itself. Treat it like a password: anyone who has it can read your subscriber data and watchlists. You can create, name and delete keys in My Subscription at any time. Each key has a daily quota of 500 tool calls (checking your quota is free, standard tools cost 1 unit each, and back test calls cost 5).
